“Cheat if you want, but respect me” – Louisa Adinkra
Kumawood actress Louisa Adinkra has sparked debate with her unconventional view on infidelity, saying she could overlook a partner’s cheating as long as he continues to treat her with respect.
The actress made the remarks while commenting on the controversy surrounding Kumawood actor Bismark Osei, popularly known as Oteele, following the circulation of an intimate video involving the actor and another woman.
Louisa said she does not expect to be the only woman in a man’s life and would therefore not be devastated by infidelity if it is kept away from her and does not come with disrespect.
“It’s something I have in my mind. When someone says they love me, I know that, no matter what, he may cheat. I shouldn’t deceive myself into thinking I will be the only woman in his life. Where should all the other women go to? If you respect me and you cheat on me without my knowledge, I’m okay with that. Just respect me, because respect is very important,” she said.
She also appealed to Oteele’s wife to consider forgiving her husband and resolving the matter privately rather than allowing the controversy to further affect their marriage.
“When the man goes out to cheat and comes back, has his ‘thing’ reduced? No, it hasn’t. So she should forgive him, allow him to come back home, and let peace reign,” Louisa stated.
However, she condemned the recording of intimate encounters, questioning why couples would film such private moments in the first place. She further criticised Oteele’s wife for addressing the matter publicly on social media.
“I don’t even understand why people record their intimate moments. Mrs Oteele, forgive your husband and let peace reign. Welcome him back home. I think you acted too quickly. Even going live on social media was unnecessary,” she said.
Louisa, however, said the part of the leaked footage that disturbed her most was the appearance of a child during the intimate encounter. As a mother, she said she would consider such a situation deeply embarrassing and inappropriate.
“What really pained me about the video was seeing the child come into the room while the two adults were being intimate. I am a mother, and there is no way I would be in a room with a man and allow my little child to walk in and see us in that situation. I would feel ashamed,” she added.
Her comments have since generated mixed reactions, particularly her assertion that infidelity could be tolerated when respect remains intact.
