The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has announced a potential price increase starting next week due to the depreciation of the cedi.
Mr Takyi Addo, the Head of Communications for Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, stated emphatically that the prices of spare parts are expected to rise in the coming week.
“Customers should prepare for higher costs for spare parts and related services hopefully next week. There is a dollar-cedi-differential, whenever it affects the local currency, definitely the prices will go up from next week”, Takyi Addo.
Speaking to Oyerepa News reporter Bernard K. Dadzie in an exclusive interview, Takyi Addo attributed that the Association does not have the authority to determine the prices of spare parts, but rather, it lies within the purview of the dealers.
He therefore called on the government, led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to reduce the import duties so that goods would be stable for business entities.
Mr Takyi Addo used the platform to call on the government to do everything possible to reduce import duties else Ghanaians are going to experience an increment of the spare parts in the coming weeks.
