Car Dealer Shot Dead, Wife Critically Injured in Ga South Estate Attack
A 50-year-old car dealer has been shot dead, while his wife is in critical condition after unidentified gunmen attacked the couple at Tuba Beach Drive Estate in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The deceased, identified as Kwesi Rahman, was reportedly returning home with his wife after an evening walk at about 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, when the incident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to Nana Ansah, the couple had just arrived at the entrance to their residence when an unidentified assailant emerged and opened fire on them without warning.
Mr Rahman sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene, while his wife was also struck several times by the bullets and suffered life-threatening injuries.
Residents, who were alerted by the sound of gunfire, rushed to the scene and arranged for the injured woman to be transported to a nearby hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Her identity and the name of the medical facility have not been disclosed for security reasons.
The body of Mr Rahman has since been deposited at the police morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Police have launched investigations into the fatal shooting and are working to establish the motive behind the attack as well as identify and arrest those responsible.
Meanwhile, residents of Tuba Beach Drive Estate say the incident has heightened fear within the community. Speaking to Nana Ansah, some residents appealed to the Ghana Police Service to intensify security patrols in the area to protect lives and property and restore public confidence.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, and no arrests had been made at the time of filing this report.
