Students in some public basic schools in the Central Region have been left without regular lessons following the nationwide strike by three teacher unions.

A visit to some government basic schools in the Gomoa East and Awutu Senya West districts by Oyerepa News revealed that teaching and learning activities had been suspended, with teachers absent from the classrooms.

At some of the schools visited, students were seen occupying themselves in different ways, with some attempting to take on the role of teachers by writing notes on classroom boards for their colleagues.

Others were seen playing and jumping around on the school compounds as there were no teachers available to conduct lessons.

Some of the students who spoke to Nana Ansah Matthew appealed to the government to urgently engage the striking teachers and address their concerns to enable them return to the classroom.

At the Awutu Bereku D/A Basic School, only a few National Service Personnel were present. They were seen monitoring the movement of pupils as the strike continued.

The situation has raised concerns among parents and students over the impact of the prolonged disruption on teaching and learning in the affected schools.
