One person has died while nine others sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident involving four vehicles at Eguase near Cape Coast in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District of the Central Region.
The car crash occurred Monday, October 31, 2022, in the evening.
According to eyewitnesses, an unregistered Mercedes Benz C300 car with number plate DV 7021 H was coming from Mankessim direction towards Cape Coast on top speed and tried overtaking a car in front of it but ran into a Toyota Hiace with registration number CR 1177-20 which was carrying passengers towards Mankessim (opposite direction).
The Mercedes Benz veered off and ran into a Hyundai Taxi with registration number CR 1019-20 which was parked by the roadside and it also hit a Toyota Camry with registration CR 463-18 which was also parked.
In the process, the Mercedes Benz burst into flames and burnt completely, while the Toyota Hiace was severely damaged and the Hyundai and Camry partially damaged.
The Fire Rescue Team called in the Police to take custody of the salvaged items at the scene after which they cleaned the road off the blood of the victims that spilled on the road.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital Mortuary while the injured victims are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
The case has been reported to the Cape Coast Police Station for investigation.
