A fuel tanker has caught fire at Gomoa Potsin Junction in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, destroying a nearby chop bar and four other shops.
According to reports, the tanker was heading towards Winneba when it overturned at the junction and immediately went up in flames.
The vehicle was completely burnt beyond recognition. Fortunately, the driver and his mate managed to escape unhurt.
However, the fire spread quickly, affecting a nearby chop bar and four container shops, causing significant damage to property.
Fire officers from Apam and Kasoa are currently at the scene working to bring the fire under control.
Meanwhile, the incident has caused heavy traffic along the stretch, temporarily halting vehicular movement.
