Armed robbers attacked fishermen at sea in Senya Bereku, located in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region, firing warning shots and making away with seven outboard motors.
The incident occurred late last night when the armed men, reportedly using a navy-coloured boat, stormed the fishing grounds.
The attackers fired warning shots to scare the fishermen before seizing seven outboard motors mounted on different canoes.
Eyewitnesses said the robbers acted swiftly, detaching the motors and fleeing the scene in the navy-coloured boat.

Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Awutu Senya West, Hon. Kalala Nyamekye Eghan, confirmed the incident in an interview with Nana Ansah and assured the victims of the Assembly’s support.
The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Gizzella Tetteh-Agbotui, added that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed the Marine Police to the area to protect fishermen and prevent further attacks with the assistance from Ghana Navy and Senya Canoe Owners.
