The Central Regional Police Command has arrested some 26 persons suspected to be internet fraudsters popularly known as Sakawa.
The suspects include 24 males and two females who were arrested by the police based on intelligence and were arrested at Ironcity, a suburb of Kasoa from three houses occupied by them.
During the raid at the houses, the police retrieved 31 laptops, 26 assorted mobile phones, 3 machetes and some dried leaves suspected to be cannabis including some toffees suspected to be containing cannabis.
Speaking in an interview with DCOP Okyere Boapeah, the Central regional commander noted that, the suspects are currently being screening for and later will process them to court for prosecution.
He said, the Central East Regional police command is poised to ensures drastic reduction of crime rate within Kasoa and its environs.
DCOP Okyere Boapeah, admonished Ghanaian landlords who rent out their apartments to foreigners particularly Nigerians to conduct proper background checks on them including finding out about their eligibility status from the immigration service.
