At least 10 people are in critical condition, with several others sustaining various injuries, following a fatal accident involving three vehicles at Gomoa Akoti Junction in the Gomoa East District.
The incident occurred when a water tanker truck with registration number GR 5961-23, travelling from Akramang, reportedly suffered brake failure while descending a hill. The tanker crashed into a Nissan passenger vehicle with registration number GW 5148-12, which was loaded with passengers from Kasoa to Akoti, before colliding with a parked pure water truck with registration number GB 2974-22.
The force of the impact caused the water tanker to somersault, spilling its contents across the road and worsening the scene.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to reporter Nana Ansah, the collision left 10 passengers in critical condition, while several others sustained injuries. All the victims have since been rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for emergency treatment.
Authorities are yet to give an official update on the cause of the crash.
