District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabere South, Mr Christian Adu- Poku popularly known as ACP has called on the Ghana COCOBOD to purchase farmlands from Chiefs (Nananom) and preserve it for farming in the future.
Speaking at the Afigya Kwabere South 37th National Farmers Day Celebration at Adwumakaase, ACP said, Chiefs of various communities in the country have resorted to the haphazard sale of lands to individuals to embark on certain activities.
The move he said a hindrance to effective farming. As a result, there is the need for COCOBOD to buy some of these lands and preserve them for posterity to embark on farming.
He however pleaded with Nananom to be very cautious of how they sell lands to people.
The Afigya Kwabere South DCE as well begged Nananom to preserve some lands for developmental activities.
