The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Builsa North Constituency of the Upper East Region, Hon. James Agalga, has sponsored a super mock examination for 1,083 final year students from public and private junior high schools (JHS) in his constituency for the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The mock examination, which cost the MP GHC 33,000.00, is aimed at preparing the candidates to excel in the upcoming BECE Examination so they can gain admission into various senior high schools of their choice.
On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the MP, accompanied by his constituency chairman Mr. James Achaab, Secretary Emmanuel Ayamboliba, and other executives, visited selected schools in Siniensi, Wiaga, Kadema, Sandema, and Chuchuliga to monitor the students taking the mock examination.
Addressing the students, Mr. Agalga advised them to focus on the mock examination, as it aligns with the BECE set by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). He encouraged them to study hard to perform well and gain admission to reputable SHS.
However, the MP cautioned the pupils against exam malpractices such as bringing unauthorized materials into the examination hall or copying from their peers, as they would face sanctions if caught by invigilators.
Mr. Agalga pledged to offer scholarships to some pupils who excel in the BECE and urged parents not to overload their children with household chores, as it could hinder their academic progress.
Additionally, the MP provided soft drinks and biscuits to be shared among the students.
