The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Builsa North Constituency, Hon. James Agalga, has made a generous donation of 200 5KG bags of rice to the Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) within the Sandema zone in his constituency.
The donation was presented on behalf of the MP on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the PWDs office in Sandema by the party constituency chairman, Mr. James Achaab. He was accompanied by other constituency executives, including the secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Ayamboliba.
At a brief ceremony to hand over the donation to the leadership of the group, Mr. Achaab mentioned the numerous challenges faced by persons with disabilities in the country, particularly in the northern part of Ghana, and indicated that instead of the government empathizing with them, it has rather shied away from its responsibilities and resorted to intimidation and taunting.
“The MP is interested in the welfare and total well-being of each individual in his constituency and will do everything within his power to ensure that.” he said.
He was quick to add that the MP, in the coming weeks, will extend the same kind gesture to the PWDs in other zones in the constituency.
Receiving the items, Mr. Francis Ana-Ngouk, the municipal chairman for the group, expressed gratitude to the MP for recognizing their needs and coming to their aid, and promised to safeguard the items and share them accordingly.
“Unlike other politicians who use the PWDs’ name for their personal gains by taking what belongs to the group and sharing it among themselves, Mr. Agalga has shown that he has humanity, especially for the vulnerable, at heart.” Mr. Ana-Ngouk added.
He used the opportunity to appeal to the MP to help renovate their office for them.
