The Builsa North Education Directorate organized a day-long program on July 21, 2024, focusing on the institutionalization of community by-laws to address local barriers to school enrollment and retention.
The event, held at the Azenero Social Centre, gathered participants from various sectors, including the clergy, chiefs and queen mothers, Ghana Health Service, social welfare, police, persons with disabilities (PWDs), NGOs, and other community stakeholders.
In her welcome address, Municipal Director of Education Madam Aganalie Mahama called on participants to offer meaningful contributions to the development and strengthening of the by-laws.
She emphasized the importance of ensuring that every community member is sensitized about the new regulations.
Municipal Police Commander ASP Joseph Tabiri underscored the need for inclusivity to ensure the by-laws’ acceptability, which is crucial for achieving better educational outcomes.
Municipal Director of Social Welfare and Community Development Mr. Francis Feikaab highlighted the necessity for all education stakeholders to work together to support the successful development of every child in the community.
Chairperson of the Social Services Committee, Mr. PP Apaabey Baba, expressed optimism that the institutionalization and acceptance of the by-laws would significantly address the challenges related to student enrollment and retention, helping students transition into future leaders.
