Member of Parliament {MP} for Suame Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has refuted claims that he pledged to construct roads for his constituents.
A lot of people in Suame have chastised the Majority in Parliament for not fulfilling his promise after he pledged to fix the deplorable roads in the constituency.
On Monday, July 18, 2022, some angry artisans at the Suame Magazine hooted and pelted their Member of Parliament Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu with sachets of water for failing to fix their roads.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Monday, 12th September 2022, the Suame Lawmaker stated that, he has not in any way promised to construct roads for his people.
According to him, he knows his responsibilities as an MP. He knows that MPs don’t construct roads so under no circumstance would he promise to fix roads.
“I’ve not promised to construct roads for anyone; I don’t construct roads.” He stated.
He added that he also uses the roads and he knows how deplorable they are but the ultimate responsibility lies on the government and not an MP like him.
“I know the roads are deplorable, I’ve experienced it….But the ultimate responsibility lies on the government.”
When asked if indeed he promised to fix the Suame bad roads, Kyei Mesnash said, he has never made the said pledge and that if anyone has evidence he should release it.
“Bring your evidence if you think I promised to construct your roads.
Because I know my responsibility as an MP, and I’ve been telling my colleague MPs not to promise the public roads, so do you think I will stand somewhere and promise my people roads?” He queried.
He however said, he will do everything possible to speak to the government to fix the Suame roads.
“I’m pleading with you (Suame constituents) that I will do my possible best to speak to the government to fix your roads.” He said.
