A group (name undisclosed) has accused Mr Joseph Kpemka, Deputy Managing Director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), of abusing his office and violating the company’s Employee Code of Conduct on political activities.
The allegations stem from Kpemka’s alleged hijacking of a Toyota Hilux vehicle with registration number GM 2041-12 for his New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign.
According to the group, Kpemka, who was appointed as DMD by the NPP government in May 2024, diverted the vehicle, which was meant for the Bolga Depot’s daily operations, for parliamentary campaign activities.
This move has raised concerns about Kpemka’s adherence to the company’s code of conduct and his commitment to maintaining the integrity of his office.
According to Section 3.16 of BOST’s Code of Conduct, employees are expressly prohibited from using company resources, including vehicles, for political activities. The code states:
- Desist from active involvement in any party politics.
- Avoid making political donations in the name of BOST
- Never use his/her position in BOST to try to influence any other person (inside or
outside of BOST) to make political contributions or provide support to any political
Mr. Kpemka allegedly flouted the law by utilizing a vehicle for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 political campaigns. According to a group, the absence of the vehicle severely hindered the operational efficiency of BOST staff at the Bolga Depot.
Furthermore, upon the vehicle’s return, it was reportedly in a deplorable state, sparking concerns about accountability and the misuse of public resources.
In light of these allegations, the group is urging President Mahama to initiate an investigation into the matter and prosecute Mr. Kpemka for misusing state properties.
Additionally, the group is calling for the immediate resignation of the BOST Managing Director and his deputy, Mr. Kpemka.
