The Bohye Mma Foundation recently provided supplies for a free medical screening event at the Kumasi Prisons on July 3, 2024.
The organization aimed to promote access to clean water and hygiene while addressing the prisoners’ medical needs.
The event was part of a larger initiative to improve the living and health conditions of the inmates, many of whom lack regular access to basic medical care.
The foundation’s efforts ensured the prisoners’ comfort and well-being during the medical examination, providing water and sanitary pads. The chairman of the Bohye Mma Foundation, Kumasi Branch, Nana Amponsah, emphasized the significance of such initiatives in his opening remarks.
“We donated sanitary pads to female inmates, addressing limited access to menstrual hygiene resources in prison settings, ensuring dignity and effective menstrual health management, and also provided packs of water to inmates, ensuring their health and well-being during medical screenings, demonstrating its holistic approach to supporting inmates’ needs. Our donation today is a small step towards making a meaningful difference in the lives of these inmates”
The Deputy Ashanti Regional PRO, DSP Diana Danso, expressed her gratitude to the BOHYE MMA Foundation for their support.
“This donation and the subsequent medical screening are invaluable to us. Our inmates often face significant health challenges, and this initiative goes a long way in providing them with the care they need. We are deeply grateful to the Bohye Mma Foundation for their compassion and commitment to our community.”
As the event concluded, Nana Amponsah reiterated the foundation’s mission. “Our goal is to make a positive impact on society by addressing critical needs and supporting those who are often overlooked. We are proud to partner with Kumasi Prisons in this endeavor and look forward to more opportunities to serve our community.”
