Boakye Agyarko Is the best to lead NPP now; Even our NDC friends admit it – Akyem Oda MP
The Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has thrown his weight behind Mr. Boakye Agyarko’s bid to become the next National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing him as the best person to lead the party at this critical moment.
Speaking on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma show on Tuesday, September 9, 2026, Hon. Acquah stated emphatically that Mr. Agyarko is uniquely positioned to revive the party as it faces internal challenges following its time in opposition.
“Boakye Agyarko is so unique to the extent that even some of our NDC colleagues are saying Boakye Agyarko is the only person who can lead the NPP at this time,” Hon. Acquah said.
According to him, private conversations with members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) reveal that they also acknowledge Mr. Agyarko’s leadership qualities.
“It will be easier to give Boakye Agyarko the opportunity to revive the party. When you meet our friends from the NDC in private, they are all saying Boakye Agyarko is the one we should bring, they just cannot say it in public,” he stated.
Hon. Acquah added that there is a general consensus among NPP members that the party needs Boakye Agyarko’s leadership at this time, expressing confidence that he will emerge victorious in the party’s national chairmanship election slated for October 3rd.
He cited Mr. Agyarko’s rich political and professional background as key credentials that make him the ideal candidate. He noted that Mr. Agyarko once served as Campaign Manager for former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, served as Vice President of major banks in the United States, and served as Minister for Energy.
“With all these achievements and his decision to serve the party, they have to give him the opportunity. Vote for him to bring Dr. Bawumia to power in 2028,” Hon. Acquah urged NPP delegates.
The Akyem Oda legislator also disclosed that although he has a personal relationship with Mr. John Boadu, who is also in the race, he has chosen to support Boakye Agyarko because he believes he has the capacity to revive the party.
“I have a personal relationship with Mr. John Boadu, but I threw my support for Boakye Agyarko because I believe he can revive the party and make the NPP rise again to take power from the NDC in 2028,” he concluded.
