The controversy surrounding an alleged “daughter of a murderer” remark made during parliamentary proceedings has deepened, as Mahmud Kabore, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, has accused Samuel Abu Jinapor of being the one behind the statement.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, hosted by Akua Asieduwaa, Kabore insisted that Jinapor made the comment during a February 4, 2025, parliamentary session, where lawmakers debated the 60th anniversary of the death of Dr. Joseph Boakye Danquah.
During the heated discussion, an unidentified New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament was heard making the remark, allegedly directed at Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Kabore firmly claimed that Jinapor was responsible for the statement, expressing that his voice was easily recognizable.
He therefore challenged the former minister to deny the accusation by invoking curses if he insisted on his innocence.
“The ‘daughter of a murderer’ comment was made by Samuel Abu Jinapor—we all recognize his voice. If he insists he didn’t say it, then he should come forward and “invoke curses” (Duabo). For the first time, we will seek permission from the Asantehene to do so,” Kabore asserted.
He further described the remark as “irresponsible” and argued that an apology would have been the best course of action.
“That day, he made a very irresponsible remark. If I were him, I would have simply apologized to put the matter to rest,” he added.
