Blakk Rasta praises Stonebwoy for self-funding historic BHIMFest London
Ghanaian reggae musician and radio host Abubakar Ahmed, popularly known as Blakk Rasta, has praised dancehall star Livingstone Etse Satekla, known professionally as Stonebwoy, for his efforts to create bigger opportunities for Ghanaian artistes on the international stage.
Speaking on his radio programme, Blakk Rasta commended Stonebwoy for his performance at the London edition of BHIMFest, while highlighting the financial commitment he reportedly made to stage the event.
“In addition to giving a fantastic performance, Stonebwoy is opening doors for Ghanaian performers to perform in larger London venues. However, just like he does with BHIMFest in Ghana, Stonebwoy used his own pocket money to organise BHIMFest in London without seeking sponsors,” he said.
Stonebwoy made headlines with the August 15, 2026, edition of BHIMFest at the OVO Arena Wembley, where he headlined a major African music showcase featuring artistes from Ghana, Nigeria and other parts of the continent.
According to Blakk Rasta, the decision to invest personally in the festival goes beyond entertainment, as it provides a platform for Ghanaian musicians to gain visibility and perform at bigger venues in the United Kingdom.
His comments have added to the growing praise for Stonebwoy’s efforts to expand the reach of Ghanaian music globally, with BHIMFest increasingly becoming a major platform for promoting Ghanaian and African culture beyond the country’s borders.
