“Black Sherif’s ‘So It Goes’ Made Me Cry” — Okyeame Kwame

Legendary hiplife musician, songwriter, and developmental activist Okyeame Kwame, born Kwame Nsiah-Apau and popularly known as the “Rap Doctor,” has revealed that Black Sherif’s song ‘So It Goes’ moved him to tears. He also described Black Sherif as the artist who excites him the most currently.

Okyeame Kwame explained that during one of his studio sessions for recording and working on his anti-galamsey song titled ‘Stop Galamsey’, his producer played Black Sherif’s newly released album, ‘The Iron Boy’. According to him, he became emotional and cried in the studio while ‘So It Goes’ was playing because of the deep emotions the song stirred in him. It was the first time he had heard the track.

“The first time I heard the song, I cried. Yes. I was in the studio recording my song, ‘Stop Galamsey’, and before we started recording, Abochi played the song. The song touched me deeply. I think he had released it two days earlier,” he said.

According to Okyeame Kwame, Black Sherif is currently the artist who excites him the most. He stated that Black Sherif’s songs and songwriting abilities touch him in a unique way and make him appreciate his craft even more.

He added: “The artist who excites me the most now is Black Sherif. I really like his stuff. I heard the song, ‘Don’t forget about me so soon. If you see the light, remember that I was with you.’ Black Sherif’s music touches me in a different way. His songwriting style and voice are very interesting.”

His comments have sparked praise for Black Sherif, with many people applauding his craft and saying it was well deserved when he won the Artiste of the Year award at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026.

Okyeame Kwame is regarded as a pioneering figure in hiplife music. He recently released his single Clap, aimed at encouraging society to celebrate the success of others rather than sabotage them.
