Bawumia is an NDC member; ask Samira if she has an NPP card – Buabeng Asamoah
Lawyer Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, interim National Chairman of the United Party (UP) and former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has alleged that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is, in fact, affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in a media interview, Mr. Buabeng Asamoah asserted that Dr. Bawumia had no political roots in the NPP before his selection as running mate to then-candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“Bawumia is an NDC member. Before he became Vice President, where was he? He has nothing to do with the NPP. It was Nana who wanted him, so they brought him in,” he claimed.
Mr. Buabeng Asamoah further questioned the political allegiance of Second Lady Samira Bawumia, suggesting that she has never publicly declared her membership in the NPP.
“His wife, Samira, has not declared for the NPP — ask her if she even has an NPP membership card. She comes from a PNC family,” he added.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has also stated in a separate interview that Dr. Bawumia’s late parents were known members of the NDC, reinforcing the narrative that the former Vice President’s family has long-standing connections with the party.
