Veteran Highlife musician and NDC Spokesperson on Tourism and Creative Arts, Rex Omar, has criticised NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for not taking responsibility for the country’s economic woes.
On UTV’s United Showbiz, Omar expressed disappointment in Bawumia’s lack of accountability, particularly as head of the Economic Management team.
Omar questioned the credibility of Bawumia’s promises, citing unfulfilled commitments and “convoluted” manifesto pledges.
He specifically mentioned the proposal to issue diplomatic passports to creatives, wondering how Bawumia planned to enforce this abroad, especially when Ghanaian diplomats face rejection.
The musician-turned-politician emphasized that Bawumia’s failure to acknowledge and apologize for the economic challenges facing Ghana undermines his trustworthiness. Omar’s comments come as the NPP launches its 2024 manifesto, with many questioning the party’s ability to deliver on its promises.
“You promised to build ultramodern theatres in 2016 but haven’t delivered even one. There hasn’t been an apology or an explanation for this failure,” Rex Omar added.
