The lifeless body of an unidentified young man, believed to be in his 20s, was discovered in a drain at Aboabo in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Friday, January 30.
Speaking to Citi News, Sumaila Dauda, Unit Committee Member for the Aboabo Extension electoral area, suggested that the victim may have been lynched before being dumped in the drain.
He described the discovery as alarming, noting that similar incidents have occurred repeatedly in the area.
“Someone informed me about the situation, so I rushed to the scene. Looking at the body, it appears the person was beaten to death. The police have since taken the body to the morgue,” Mr Dauda said, calling on authorities to take steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
Police confirmed that the body has been conveyed to the morgue and that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
