A 48-year-old farmer named Akwesi Peter Hemang was tragically shot and killed by an unknown assailant in a forest near Tenehoyo Cottage, close to Sreso Timpom in the Ashanti Region.
This incident, reported by the Daily Guide newspaper on July 3, 2023, has left the community in shock.
Akwesi Peter Hemang, a devoted father of seven, left his home on June 26, 2023, with the intention of going hunting. However, he never returned, and it wasn’t until two days later that his lifeless body was discovered in the forest.
The police conducted a preliminary investigation, revealing that Akwesi had indeed left his home on June 26, 2023, armed with a gun for his hunting expedition.
“On June 28, 2023, at approximately 15:30, the Nyinahin Police received information from the Odikro of Tenehoyo cottage near Sreso Timpom, reporting the discovery of a deceased individual named Peter Akwesi Hemang, a 48-year-old farmer, in the forest.
Promptly, the police visited the scene and found the lifeless body of Akwesi Peter Hemang, a farmer with a wife and seven children, lying face down. Strikingly, a robust double-barreled gun rested on his chest, accompanied by a bottle of liquid.
The deceased was attired in a black shirt and black trousers. Upon closer inspection, the police observed gunshot wounds on his chest, right hand, and left thigh.” The report stated
The distance between the scene and Akwesi Peter Hemang’s residence was approximately 500 meters, as determined by the police.
The police said that a preliminary inspection of the body in the forest suggests that he was shot dead by someone.
Although no arrests have yet been made, the body has been deposited in the morgue at the Nyinahin Community Hospital for preservation and autopsy while investigations continue.
