The Ashanti regional chapter of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) held its annual general meeting, themed “Empowering Growth, Building a Strong Workforce,” aimed at promoting local industries and fostering resilience.
Industry players, stakeholders, and entrepreneurs gathered to share insights and strategies for growth. This regional meeting precedes the national conference scheduled to take place in Accra.
Seth Twum-Akwaboah, AGI President, emphasized the association’s efforts to engage presidential candidates across political parties, to sign a memorandum of understanding seeking to ensure industry-friendly policies in party manifestos.
“Strengthening industries will create jobs and curb unemployment,” Twum-Akwaboah stressed. “We’re committed to working with all stakeholders to drive growth.”

Mr. Kwasi Nya Mekye, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), emphasized that a nation’s economic growth relies heavily on developing its industries.
He urged the government to create and implement strategies to boost local industries, recognizing their vital role in driving economic progress.
Some of the key areas the government could consider include Energy Cost Reduction, by implementing policies to decrease electricity costs for industries Industry, Friendly Policies, Investing in infrastructure to support industry operations and Providing resources for workforce training and upskilling
Addressing these areas can help the government create an environment that allows local industries to thrive, contributing to the nation’s economic development.
