His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has cautioned political leaders to prioritize diplomacy, fairness, and justice in their policies, emphasizing the crucial role these values play in promoting peace and stability.
Speaking through Nana Professor Mensah Bonsu at the launch of the Blueprint for Sustainable Global Peace at Accra International Conference Center, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stressed that traditional leaders must also inspire unity and foster reconciliation.
Asantehene’s commitment to peace has been evident in his efforts to ensure calm before, during, and after the 2024 general elections. Recognized for his vision and leadership, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has brought peace and reconciliation to the Ashanti Kingdom.
Asantehene’s leadership has been acknowledged globally, with honorary doctorates from esteemed institutions, including the University of Glasgow, University of Ghana, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
President of Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Albert Kwabena Dwumfour emphasized the urgency of addressing conflicts, inequalities, corruption, and uncertainties threatening global harmony.
He highlighted the importance of safety for journalists, especially during Ghana’s upcoming elections. Dwumfour drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai, and unsung heroes working towards peace.
The GJA president reaffirmed the association’s commitment to collaborating with the Centre of Awareness Global Peace mission to achieve sustainable global peace. GJA president acknowledges that achieving global peace won’t be easy, but with resilience, resourcefulness, and determination, we can overcome the challenges ahead.
