A member of the Asante Kotoko Supporters’ Communication Team, Francis Yaw Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley, has tragically lost his life after being stabbed by unidentified individuals.

The incident happened during their Ghana Premier League match against Nsoatreman FC on Sunday in Nsoatre.

The Porcupine Warriors were visiting Nana Kronmansah Park for the Matchday 19 clash.

The Club in a statement confirmed that Nana Pooley was fatally stabbed following an altercation during the game’s second half.

Despite being rushed to the Sunyani Regional Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival, having suffered multiple chest wounds.

Asante Kotoko has condemned the violent episode that marred the match, especially given the team’s loss to the defending FA Cup champions.

The match ended 1-0 in favour of Nsoatreman FC but was marred by chaos, with players from both teams clashing during the game, leading the referee to issue four red cards.

The situation escalated after the final whistle, with violent confrontations breaking out between the fans.
