Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) government led by John Dramani Mahama.
This appeal follows a peaceful 2024 general election that saw Mahama return to the presidency after eight years in opposition, defeating the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Taking to social media, Gyan congratulated the new government and urged citizens to prioritize national interests over partisan politics.
“Let’s support the government. Any government that comes to power, let’s support them. When you go and buy things at GHC 50 and you sell them at GHC 1000, the country will go through hardship,” he noted, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in tackling national challenges.
Gyan stressed the importance of collaboration, encouraging Ghanaians to set aside political differences. “Ghana has decided. Let’s put party politics aside, and if your party has won, focus on government. For us as citizens, we will also support,” he said.
He also highlighted the role of attitudinal change in fostering national development. “We also have to change our attitudes, and we have to support the new government. Let’s congratulate the new government, and that is my message,” he added.
Gyan Urged citizens to avoid sabotage and instead contribute positively to nation-building. “As a good citizen or as a loyal citizen of this country, let’s congratulate the ruling party, which is the NDC, and let us support them, not sabotage them.”
