A private legal practitioner, Lawyer William Kusi has stated emphatically that the national chairman hopeful of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Stephen Asamoah Boateng is known as ‘Asabee’ will lose to the upcoming election,
The governing party will Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17, 2022, holds its National Annual Delegates’ Conference to elect national executives.
Lawyer Kusi’s comment is in reaction to a statement made by Asebee that the government should slow down on the construction of the controversial national cathedral and tackle with poverty in the country first.
“Look at the poverty happening around and those who are struggling; slow down and tackle that [poverty]. In my own opinion if it goes beyond 2024, 2026 [it is] fine. We need to take our time.
It will have a beneficial effect on the economy finally; such an edifice cannot go waste. We will earn the revenue but right now if government money is not going in, fine, but if our money is going in, I would say let us wait a bit. Let us get the private sector to push in, especially the Christian community,” Asebee said.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time hosted by Parker-Wilson the lawyer rubbished Asebee’s claims. He stated that Asabee will not be a leader of the party for opposing the building of the National Cathedral
“Asamoah Boateng will not win the chairmanship position, he’ll lose drastically. He has no priority. If Asebee does not know the benefits of the national cathedral then he can’t be a leader.’’ He stated.
