“Apologise to your husband on our behalf” – Asante Akyem South NPP Chairman tells Samira Bawumia

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Asante Akyem South Constituency, Kyei Noah, has issued an apology to Samira Bawumia to be conveyed to her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, following what he described as a “despicable and divisive” comment made by the area’s Member of Parliament, Kwaku Asante Boateng.

The MP, during an interview with Adom TV, suggested that Dr. Bawumia was unfit to lead the party—remarks the constituency chairman believes undermine unity within the NPP.

Addressing delegates in Asante Akyem Juaso during Samira Bawumia’s visit as part of her campaign tour for Dr. Bawumia’s flagbearership bid, Kyei Noah stressed that such statements from a party lawmaker were unhelpful and damaging to internal cohesion.

He urged delegates to rally strongly behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and expressed confidence that the Vice President would secure at least 80 percent of votes in the NPP’s presidential primaries scheduled for December 31, 2026.
