Drivers and residents, including motorists at Agape, a suburb of Anyaa-Sowutuom in the Ga Central Municipal Assembly, are threatening to organize large-scale demonstrations against the government due to the deplorable state of their roads.
The drivers have expressed their intention to cease providing services on this route as a result of its appalling condition.
Furthermore, the drivers have strongly criticized the governing NPP government, particularly Mr. Mohammed Bashiru, the MCE for Ga Central Municipal Assembly, and Dr. Adomako Kissi, the member of Parliament of Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency, for their apparent lack of concern regarding the route. They have labelled both individuals as dishonest and empty promise-makers.
Mr. Emmanuel Yirenkyi, the station master and 2nd trustee of Agape No.1 branch, shared his frustration with Oyerepa News reporter Bernard K. Dadzie, stating that the situation has severely impacted their sales.
He explained that armed robbers are increasingly targeting market women due to the poor condition of the roads, posing a threat to their safety.
Describing the route, he emphasized that it is riddled with potholes, dangerous stones, and erosion, which have taken over the entire stretch. In the dry season, the road becomes extremely dusty, making driving extremely challenging.
According to Mr. Yirenkyi, the drivers, along with the Agape residents, are planning to stage a massive protest against the NPP government if the road is not repaired promptly.
