The Coalition for Democratic Accountability and Inclusive Governance is urging the removal of Mr. Tweneboah Kodua Fokuo as the Managing Director of the National Investment Bank (NIB).
The pressure group has expressed concerns about Ghana’s current situation, particularly with the IMF highlighting the leakages within state-owned enterprises. These leakages pose fiscal risks to the government’s finances.
During a press conference today, Dr. Kojo P. Asante, PhD, the Director of Advocacy and Policy Engagement at CDD-Ghana, emphasized that Mr. Fokuo’s appointment raises serious concerns about the politicization of State-Owned Enterprises. Dr. Asante added that all well-meaning Ghanaians should condemn the questionable motives behind the appointment.
“We demand the withdrawal of the appointment of the Parliamentary aspirants to SOEs. Apart from the obvious insensitivity to our economic situation, and the deepening politicization of the expansion of the already bad governance appointing MPs to sit on the Board of SOEs is a real cause for worry”.
The Executive Director of Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Mary Adda charged all Ghanaians to come out and voice their hearts on the corrupt deeds of the Ghanaian politician.
According to her, it is imperative on the part of the citizenry to always keep the government and politician on their toes.
She opined that the fight against corruption must be in the interest of every responsible person because Ghanaian democracy is being threatened by corruption.
She opined that Ghana is likely to experience an uprising as is been happening in some countries because of the current happenings among government officials.
