Another woman identified as Joana Awortwe is in police custody of Takoradi Divisional Police for faking her kidnap.
“It is true. We had a report that a lady named Joana Krah had been kidnapped. The complainant reported that he had a call from Regina’s phone that she had been kidnapped and said the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of GHC 5,000.” Public Relation Officer of the Western Regional Police Command, DSP Olivia Adiku confirmed on Kumasi-based radio Silver FM in an interview.
The police after receiving the complaint began their investigations.
The police through their investigations arrested her other accomplices Susan Awortwe and Francis Eshun.
“They helped Joan in alleging that she had been kidnapped. It was after their arrest that Joana realized the police was involved in the case and later reported herself to the police.” DSP Olivia Adiku revealed.
The three, according to the police are now in their custody and will be processed before the court today to face the law.
DSP Olivia Adiku declared in her interview that. Joana, faked her kidnap in order to solicit money from her adopted father, but didn’t know the matter would be reported to the police.
The police also confirmed, the city in the past has recorded a series of fake kidnap cases and had recently recorded two.
