In an effort to solidify a unified front for success in the upcoming December general elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has successfully resolved the differences between Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah Kubi, and running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO.
Initially, Mr. Appiah Kubi publicly expressed his opposition to NAPO’s selection as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate, citing a preference for a candidate with stronger grassroots connections, humility, and respect.
Despite this initial disagreement, NAPO was officially confirmed by the National Council and introduced in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 9th. Subsequently, on Tuesday, July 16th, Andy Appiah Kubi paid a visit to NAPO in his office, setting aside any perceived differences between them.
During their meeting, NAPO and Appiah Kubi reaffirmed their commitment to working together towards securing victory for the NPP in the 2024 general elections, following a cordial exchange of pleasantries.
In a Facebook post, the NPP’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye popularly called Nana B, expressed satisfaction with the gesture, stating that the party is now united and poised to “break the eight”.
“The brotherhood is rekindled, NPP vice presidential candidate, Hon Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) and Hon Andy Appiah Kubi earlier today. The NPP is poised to break the 8!!”.
