An American Non governmental Organisation (NGO), My Neighbors Keeper Foundation and Nana Ayimedu Foundation in Ghana are poised to build a modern Hair Saloon for the Kumasi Central Prisons.
The step, is to wipe out the outmoded Prisons saloon to a modern standard so as to make it easy for prison officers to properly train inmates to have the requisite skills after jail term.
AC Mabel Fameye, In Charge of Kumasi Prisons Saloon told the NGOs in a dialogue during a visit to the facility that, the hair saloon needs immediate attention, it needs to be fixed. It needs to be expanded and built to a modern standard to assist in training detainees.
” The hair saloon is small, weak and outmoded which need to be expanded. We need a modern Saloon to train the inmates .” AC Mabel Fameye stated.
According to her, the facility albeit it been a training center is also open to the public. However it lacks the needed modern equipment, especially hairdryers to keep it working everyday.
She added that, it could generate some sort of revenue for the nation if it is raised to a modern standard since a lot of people will patronize it.
The US Seattle based NGO ‘My Neighbors Keeper’ and Ghana based Nana Ayimedu Foundation on the other hand promised to build the facility to the international standard as requested.
Nana Ayimedu Brempong III , founder of Nana Ayimadu Foundation, also Kontihene of Adjena Tafoman Akwamu Traditional Council however pledged that, his outfit managed by wife and the American NGO will construct and raise the saloon to a modern standard.
He expressed their readiness to additionally purchase 4 hairdryers and other needed equipments to equip the Kumasi Central Prisons saloon.
