The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) is set to cut sod for a 24-hour economic market next week, aiming to relocate hundreds of street sellers to a safer environment.
In an exclusive interview, AMA Chief Executive Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey explained that the move will provide a secure space for around 500-600 market women currently selling on the streets.
Allotey emphasized that traders play a vital role in Accra’s development and deserve a safe place to operate.
He urged traders to heed advice and vacate pavements and roads to prevent accidents, stating that their safety is paramount.
The AMA is working to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive while ensuring public safety.
He commended President John Dramani Mahama for his “Reset Ghana” agenda aimed at making Ghana work again, and urged Ghanaians to support initiatives for the country’s development
