A three-month-pregnant woman, identified as Hannah Tetteh, is currently in a coma and receiving emergency treatment at the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital following an alleged brutal assault by a police informant.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Central Business District in Kasoa, within the Awutu Senya East Municipality, when the informant accused the 36-year-old woman of selling drugs. Eyewitnesses say Hannah was on her way to purchase beverages when she was suddenly attacked.
According to reports, the alleged informant physically assaulted her—repeatedly hitting her, including a blow to the abdomen, which caused her to collapse. Following the assault, the informant reportedly called in officers from the Central East Police Command.
When the police arrived, it is alleged that they stripped the unconscious woman naked in public and conducted a search for illegal substances—but found nothing on her.
Madam Victoria Naah, mother of the victim, recounted the incident to the press, expressing shock and anguish. She explained that her daughter operates a drinking spot in Ofankor and had only traveled to Kasoa to buy beverages when the unfortunate attack occurred.
“My daughter is three months pregnant. The informant accused her without any evidence, kicked her in the stomach, and called the police. When they came, they undressed her in public and found nothing on her. She was unconscious at that point,” the distraught mother said.
Victoria further revealed that Hannah was initially rushed to the Kasoa Polyclinic. However, the police reportedly told medical staff that the victim was simply intoxicated and needed no medical attention. Nurses at the clinic, upon examining her condition, referred her to the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital due to the severity of her injuries.
Despite the alleged informant being arrested, Madam Victoria claims he has since been released, while her daughter remains in critical condition, fighting for her life.
The family is now demanding justice and a thorough investigation into the actions of both the informant and the officers involved.
