Authorities at the Goaso Municipal Hospital in the Ahafo Region have been accused of negligence leading to the death of a 36- year-old pregnant woman, Joyce Pokuaa and her newborn baby.
The deceased, who was at the point of delivery, is reported to have been given little attention by nurses on duty whiles she was moaning in pain.
The deceased mother, Grace Asumani told Oyerepa News, that her daughter had been attending antenatal at the Hospital after she missed her last period, Monday 6th March 2023.
“I brought her to the hospital and we were asked to go home and prepare to come the next day so we returned here on Tuesday 7th March 2023, but she was pronounced dead on Thursday morning after struggling to deliver on her own.
Grace Asumani said the family at a point demanded Cesarean Section (CS) but the nurses on duty insisted that the decease can deliver on her own which arguably led to her demise.
The family is however demanding the Ministry of Health, The Ghana Health Service and Authorities of the Goaso Government Hospital to investigate the matter.
