The management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has strongly denied the accusations made by the former legal counsel for the facility regarding the alleged breaches of the procurement act by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Prof Dr Otchere Addai Mensah.
Recently, a petition was submitted to President Akufo-Addo calling for the removal of the current CEO from his position.
The petition, filed by Lawyer Kwame Adofo, accused Prof Dr Otchere Addai Mensah of misusing hospital funds and taking a private trip to Dubai, in addition to other procurement violations.
Kwame Frimpong, the Public Relations Officer for KATH, addressed these allegations in an interview with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Oyerepa Breakfast Show. Frimpong stated that all claims against the CEO are unfounded and without merit.
Frimpong went on to highlight the positive impact that Prof Dr Otchere Addai Mensah has had on the hospital since assuming the role of CEO. He emphasized the CEO’s dedication and commitment to improving the hospital and expressed satisfaction with the progress made under his leadership.
“We have seen the impact he has made at Komfo Anokye since his appointment and we are happy with his work so far…… And I can tell you that all the allegations against him are nothing to believe they are all false, particularly on the basis that he has spent the hospital’s money illegally” he stated.
However, it is important to note that the CEO has consistently fulfilled his duties without any breaches and has always been accountable for all expenditures related to the Heal Komfo Anokye Project.
“There have not been any instances where he has refused to give an account of all the happenings on this new project, he has been always meeting the board for the project briefing them every month to give an account of everything on the Heal Komfo Anokye Project and record there is no existing request to give account on money received for the Project,” he stated
The labour unions at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital have responded to the allegations, asserting that they are false and without merit.
