The Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, has announced that the NPP government is fully committed to completing all Ashanti regional hospitals by the end of 2024.
On August 17, 2021, President Nana Akufo-Addo inaugurated the Agenda 111 project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at constructing one hundred and eleven district hospitals across the country.
During a recent address on the Agenda 111 projects, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed that approximately 88 hospitals from the Agenda 111 project are nearing completion and will soon be commissioned by the President for full operation.
These new hospital projects include the maternity and children block of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Sewua Hospital, Bekwai Hospital, Fomena Hospital, Trede, Bekwai, Tepa, and several other facilities in the Ashanti region.
Dr. Nsiah Asare, speaking on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Wednesday, explained that most of the buildings have been fully completed and are now awaiting some final touches and the installation of medical equipment before they can begin full operation, particularly in the Ashanti Region.
“This NPP Government will do everything possible to complete all hospital projects in the Ashanti Region by the end of 2024” he stated.
Adding that most of the hospital projects are fully completed and in operation while some are yet to receive the needed equipment and installation of devices to make it operational.
However, he refuted claims that the projects have been abandoned due to non-availability of funds.
