Dr. E.T Amanor Lartey, a Political Science lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba has indicated that the decision of Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen to pull out of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership race has automatically ended his political career.
Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen issued out a press statement on Tuesday evening Sept 5, 2023, that, he has withdrawn from the NPP presidential race.
Reacting to Alan’s decision on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Wednesday, Dr Amanor Lartey lashed out at the former trade minister stating that, his hopes to become Ghana’s president have come to an end.
He said Alan’s decision is a ‘political suicidal’.
“His (Alan’s) withdrawal from the contest, I’m not being a prophet of doom but I think that this might be the end of his political career.
His popularity was in 2008. And around that time he couldn’t win. His popularity rating has gone down the years and I don’t think that effectively he stands any chance of becoming president of Ghana.”
Dr. Lartey added that Alan pulled out of the race because he saw that, he was not going to win.
“When you look at the current race, between candidates of the NPP, I don’t see him winning the primaries; thankfully he has withdrawn from the race. And for him to come out of the political party, that’s a political suicidal for him and I don’t see him winning.”
