The Member of Parliament for the Subin constituency in the Ashanti Region, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has made a statement regarding President Akufo-Addo’s decision not to dismiss former Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta.
According to him, President Akufo-Addo has deep regrets for not dismissing former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.
A group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament had petitioned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Adu Boahen, to restore public confidence in the economy. This petition was announced during a media briefing by their spokesperson, Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim North, in Parliament on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
The group stated that they would not engage in business with the government or support the 2023 Budget if the president did not comply with their request.
But, President Akufo-Addo chose not to follow the group’s advice.
Speaking with Kwesi Parker Wilson on Oyerepa Breakfast Time on Monday, October 21, 2024, the Subin Legislator revealed that President Nana Addo has regrets for not dismissing Ken Ofori Atta.
“Akufo has great regrets for not replacing Ken Ofori Atta earlier on. If you look at the current Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, he has successfully steered the economy back on track, giving us hope for victory in the 2024 elections. So this indicates that Akufo-Addo has regrets, although he may not openly admit it.”
According to him, the former Finance Minister has put the country and the NPP government in economic woes.
“I am not afraid of Ken Ofori Atta. He is solely to blame for the state of economic mismanagement….”
