Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, hosted a breakfast meeting with the five presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at his private residence in Nima, Accra.
A statement issued by his spokesperson, Fatimatu Abubakar, said the engagement was aimed at promoting unity and camaraderie among the aspirants ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026, while reinforcing the importance of party cohesion as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections.

Addressing the aspirants, former President Akufo-Addo expressed appreciation for their commitment to the party and commended their contributions to its growth. He urged them to conduct decent, issue-based campaigns that strengthen rather than divide the NPP.
“My focus remains on ensuring a united front and a credible primary process that will position the NPP strongly for victory in 2028,” he stated.

The five aspirants — Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong — pledged to maintain a healthy and competitive campaign environment and to rally behind whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer.
The meeting was attended by senior NPP members including Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Danquah Smith Buttey, Justin Kodua Frimpong, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.
According to the statement, the breakfast meeting formed part of the former President’s ongoing efforts to preserve party unity and strengthen internal democracy within the NPP.
