Professor Charles Marfo, a lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST),) has kicked againt former Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta’s new position.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made changes to his ministerial team in response to reports of a forthcoming significant restructuring within the government.
Shortly after the president’s announcement, a source at the Jubilee House revealed that Ken Ofori Atta has assumed a role in the Akufo-Addo administration.
The former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, is to be appointed as the senior presidential advisor on the economy.
He will also serve as the president’s special envoy on international investment and the capital markets.
Reacting to this new appointment in a panel discussion on Oyerepa breakfast time, the lecturer expressed shock about Ken Ofori-Atta’s new role.
“I did not know the role of Ofori-Atta when the reshuffle came. What I heard this morning really shocked me. Ofori-Atta is not really a financial economist. When Ofori-Atta was the minister, there was no position like that, so why did you suddenly create such a huge role? The basic is that Ofori-Atta will oversee the new finance minister. I think the reason behind this is to undermine the intelligence of Ghanaians.” Prof. Marfo asserted.
