The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Abdul Hamid, firmly asserts that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has successfully rescued Ghana. Despite acknowledging the economic challenges faced by the nation, Dr. Hamid emphasizes that the current Akufo-Addo-led administration has propelled the country to unprecedented heights, surpassing the state in which they initially found it.
“Yes, we have rescued this country. The economy is challenged without a doubt, but I’m saying to you Emefa that we have taken this country beyond where we found it.
We are going into an election and I always tell people…When people call me…that is why in the past year I just do this academic thing because I tell people, don’t worry, no shaking, there is time for debate, we will come and debate the issues in the election year. They will hear from me and I will justify the rescuing that we have done for this country.
We have saved over 400,000 young people who but for our policy would be languishing on the streets of our country who are today in Universities and pursuing proper careers for their lives. The human of a country is what runs a country. The reason countries like Japan, Singapore and so on don’t have Mineral resources but have made progress is human resources. So if you have a President who has been able to rescue the human resources of our country, who over several years hundred thousand of them will go onto the streets and lead meaningless lives and they are rescued and being put on a path to progress and prosperity for they and their families, that is not rescuing? That is rescuing, we will debate it,” he said on Joy News.
It is worth noting that before the 2016 elections, Mustapha Hamid, the former spokesperson of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed deep concern about the rampant corruption in the country. He passionately called for the nation to be saved, emphasizing that this could only be achieved by voting out the incumbent government.
Hamid’s remarks shed light on the prevailing issue of corruption and the urgent need for change. He recognized that the electorate held the power to bring about the necessary transformation. By urging citizens to exercise their voting rights wisely, he emphasized the crucial role they played in shaping the future of the nation.
“It’s terribly sad. This country is in serious trouble, we need to rescue this country from serious trouble, Wallahi! The presidency has been so depraved, so muddied, so dirty that I tell you in all sincerity as a Ghanaian that I feel terribly sad as a Ghanaian,” Mr Hamid said.
