Ghanaian actor and media personality Akwasi Boadi, popularly known as Akrobeto, has joined efforts to promote safer road practices in Ghana following a meeting with the Deputy Minister for Transport and Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey.

The engagement, which brought together Akrobeto and officials from the Transport Ministry, focused on using public education and the influence of popular personalities to improve awareness of road traffic regulations and encourage responsible behaviour among road users.

Madam Affo-Toffey stressed that tackling Ghana’s road crash situation requires more than enforcement, highlighting the need for stronger public communication involving government agencies, the media, civil society organisations and influential personalities.

She said creative approaches to road safety education could help reach a wider audience and make traffic messages more relatable to motorists, pedestrians and commercial drivers.

According to her, personalities such as Akrobeto, who commands a strong following across different age groups, can play a key role in changing attitudes and promoting compliance with road laws.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Akwasi Boadi (Akrobeto) expressed his willingness to contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing road accidents and creating safer roads across the country.

He acknowledged the impact of entertainment and the media in shaping public behaviour, noting that public figures can use their platforms to influence positive change.

The meeting ended with both sides agreeing to strengthen collaboration through sustained awareness campaigns aimed at educating the public on road safety and supporting efforts to reduce accidents nationwide. The partnership is expected to combine government policy with the reach and influence of entertainment figures to encourage a more responsible road culture in Ghana.
