Residents of Kwahu Afram Plains South who were affected by the recent water spillage from the Akosombo-Kpong Dams have received much-needed assistance from their Member of Parliament, Joseph Appiah Boateng, also known as JAB1.
In an effort to support their livelihoods, JAB1 provided relief items including food, beverages, water, toiletries, soaps and detergents, clothes, mosquito nets, and temporary accommodation. These items were handed over to community leaders in the affected areas for distribution to the victims.
During a brief ceremony held in Ekye Amanfrom, in the Afram Plains South District, JAB1 expressed his deep gratitude to all those who supported him in gathering the relief items. However, he acknowledged that while his efforts were commendable, they were not sufficient. He appealed to the government and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to urgently intervene, particularly in providing accommodation and shelter for those with critical needs.
Nana Kwaku Adu, the Dwanetoafourhene of Ekye, received the items on behalf of the victims and expressed his appreciation for JAB1’s kind gesture. He also called on the authorities to swiftly assist his people and complement the efforts of the MP. Nana Kwaku Adu emphasized the challenging situation faced by his community and urged the government and NADMO to intervene promptly.
Several affected victims who received the relief items shared their stories and expressed their gratitude to JAB1 for his intervention. They also appealed to the government to swiftly address their situation.
Overall, JAB1’s assistance to the victims of the water spillage has provided much-needed relief, but further support from the government and NADMO is urgently required to alleviate the suffering of the affected residents.
