The Ahafo Regional Minister, George Boakye has begged road contractors who are on sites in his region to speed up their performance for their works to meet deadlines per their contracts to help end challenges commuters endure due to deplorable nature of the roads.
He appealed when he inspected the ongoing 15 Kilometers Alhaji Nkwanta – Weijakrom – Mim road construction of which he explained to that he is pleased with the work of the contractor but not withstanding, he must expedite work to meet the deadline according to the contract.
According to him, commuters on the stretch who are mainly farmers struggle to convey their foodstuffs to towns and cities because of the bad state, therefore work must be speed up.
The Project Manager for Joshob Construction, David Nanko noted that currently earthworks have stopped because of the rains. He indicated that they are now on concrete works and immediately the rains stop, they will embark on earthworks to ensure that they finish work on time.
He told Sulley Dramani in an interview that their major challenge is how motor riders over speed on the said stretch which and in order not to record any form of accident, measures have been put in place.
