A man in his early forties died earlier in the day after he allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well.
The sad incident happened around 5:30 am at Goaso Zongo-Manhyia in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region.
According to an eyewitnesses who spoke with Oyerepa News they came to fetch water from the well and the deceased beg them for some to drink. They obliged and gave him some water. They left him at the well but when they came back, they saw his slippers at the well. They then tried to take a look into it and to their surprise they saw the man trying to jump into the well after he manoeuvred through the little hole of the cover.
They went back and informed their father to come to the aid of the man but he jumped into the well which was full of water.
They then called the police and fire service to come and rescue the man. After draining the water for almost an hour, the lifeless body of the deceased was pulled out.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at Goaso Municipal Hospital for further investigation.
