The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nkatia, has strongly criticized the decision made by Hon. Godfrey Yeboah Odame, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, to pursue a conviction against the Minority leader, labelling it as a politically motivated witch hunt.
Mr. Nkatia vehemently denies the allegations made by the attorney general that Ato Forson, a member of the NDC, imported empty vehicles disguised as ambulances, resulting in financial losses for the state. He asserts that the 30 ambulances brought into the country in 2015 were fully equipped and suitable for their intended purpose, dismissing the accusations by the NPP as baseless and misleading.
Furthermore, Mr Nkatia explains that the NDC, under the leadership of the then Deputy Minister of Finance, Ato Forson, also imported three containers filled with medical equipment necessary for installing and maintaining the ambulances. However, the Ministry of Health has failed to clear these containers since 2016, causing delays in the deployment of the ambulances.
In conclusion, Mr Nkatia urges a fair and unbiased investigation into the matter, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in the justice system.
“We have all the necessary documentation which backs our claim that the NDC government purchased Ambulances which were shipped into the country somewhere in 2015”, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia stressed.
